Excerpts
Media Crew: Please, can you tell us a little about yourself, why you visited Abuja, and what exactly motivated you to build a free hospital, and how you felt receiving the HAMS award?
Prophetess Chinyere Joy: “I am Prophetess Chinyere Joy, popularly known as Iron Must Obey. People normally give me this name, that every stronghold that sees me always obeys my voice. Victory By Mercy Deliverance Prophetic Ministry is located at Umunya, Anambra State.”
I am from Ezedike in Ideato local government area of Imo State. My father, now late, Mr. Joseph Nnorom, retired as an Assistant Manager with the defunct Afribank. I am the only daughter in my family and the last born.
“I was called upon to receive an award. I am a prophetess right from birth; people know me for that, that’s who I am. Many times, when people come with their cases to me in my office, through my divine gift, I often discover that this is not a spiritual problem, but a health issue – some lack vitamins or proper diet. They will keep complaining that something is moving all over their body, when I check the source, I will discover that this is lack of vitamins or proper diet, and what causes it is simply poverty.”
My ministry is focused on helping the needy, and nobody touches the offering, including myself. After services, the offering goes directly to the needy. I have what I am doing for a living aside God’s call – I am a businesswoman and I am the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Priwiss Concept Limited; Founder of Succor Foundation and I am also Manager of AMA Douglas Diamond Industry Limited. I have my company – that’s my business. The call of God is essential, but it is not my main source of income, so I have been reaching out to the needy for years, and it is in the news; media carry it, and people know me with it.
“Last year in December, after General Thanksgiving, we normally gather everything, share it, go to the hospitals, correctional facilities, orphanage homes. This time around, I went to a particular hospital in Anambra State. I discovered that some hospitals are what I call mini-prison yards. The person cannot come out; your people will be bringing food for you until you offset the hospital bill. What really broke my heart was a case of a commercial motorbike rider, and the wife is just a petty hawker. The medical bill they were to pay was in millions of naira, and the man has been forced to stay there for four months after being treated and healed.”
Moved by this experience, I asked myself, “Can I put up a structure as a hospital and let people come and get treated free of any charge, so that they will not end up being imprisoned due to failure to offset their medical bills after being treated and healed?” By the grace of God, I built a hospital, PWS hospital which is situated along Awka-Onitsha Expressway, between Transit University and Nkwele Junction, equipped it very well, and it is also a standard hospital. It is occupying two plots of land. Even the local government area Chairman of Oyi in Anambra State sent a representative on that day, July 13th this year, it was commissioned for public use.
“So, this is the major reason that pushed me to step forward and stop careless death and psychological torture in the house of God, because the particular hospital I saw the man belongs to the church. The call of God started early in my life; it troubled me before God defeated Satan at last. It started at an early stage of my life.”
I started this humanitarian journey with ice fish. I am not from a wealthy family; I started from the grass. There is a popular market at Nkpor junction; I saw one woman beggar with up to four of her supposed children running and soliciting for alms. I was seated in a bus; I said to God in my mind, “Oh, he should help me, even if it is once in a month,
let me be able to feed them. Before one month, it was as if God opened a little door, I was able to buy a little size of rice, I remembered I also bought two ice fishes, I sliced it, I cooked it, and that day, out of excitement, I was sharing it, I was very happy that I helped them to feed at least that day. Next month, I was able to buy chicken, from that, the practice started growing bigger and bigger. Sometimes, I will visit correctional facility in Anambra, I will slaughter two cows and cook with it and give them. At some point, the practice literally became part of me, even during COVID-19 period, it is almost every time I am on the road.
“I believe that God cannot physically come down here, that is why he chooses me and others that believe in humanitarian mission. Is treatment of patients free of any charge? Yes, it is an open hospital, as long as I have the money, medications, healthcare personnel, as long as you are a human being that God created. Except there are cases that are beyond us, we do referrals, so as long as the hospital door is open and what we have can help you get well, we treat you free of any charge.
Media Crew: “Do you expect support from good spirited individuals and organisations to run the hospital?
Prophetess Joy: “Honestly in mind, I did not set out to look outside for such, especially at this very early stage, but maybe in future and it must not necessarily be in cash but preferably in kind such as possible donation of medications, equipments and other special areas of intervention”.
“I want God to use this to have mercy upon me because all of us are sinners. I was reading my Bible one day, there was this particular king that God sent a prophet to go and inform him that he should prepare to return home, he sinned against God, but when the king heard the message by the prophet, he turned and faced the wall in total repentance, asking God that if he should kill him, who will complete the house of God he was building, who will cater for the widows, he pleaded for God’s mercy and God spared his life and added to him more years because God remembered he is still useful and restored him.
“So anyone who wants to help can do so by paying directly to companies for medications or equipment, and the hospital will acknowledge and remain grateful. So anybody that wants to help, maybe I don’t have this machine there, don’t give me money, pay to the company that will bring the machine, I don’t have this medicine, no don’t give me money, pay to the company that will deliver it to us.”
Media Crew: Congratulate Prophetess Joy
Prophetess Chinyere Joy: Thank you.
