SENATOR GOD'SWILL AKPABIO PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE OPEN TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP
The Organization of Africa Events Management Ltd, an indigenous event planner as honor to manage the tournament event of FIRST SENATE PRESIDENT OPEN TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP, Tagged: His Excellency Distinguish Senator Gods will Akpabio National Open Tennis Championship 2025.
The Chairman/CEO of the Africa Events Management Ltd, Rt. Hon. Prince Kolawole Mathew made this Known to the press after the approval of the Senate Committee on Sports Development Chairman and the endorsement of the National Assembly leadership, under Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
The maiden edition of the Senate President National Open Lawn Tennis Championship has been scheduled for this October 4th to 11th October this year.
The Africa Events Management Ltd as organiser in collaboration with the Nigeria Tennis Federation for the tournament.
The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Sports Development, Senator Abdul Ningi facilitated the meeting of the Chairman and CEO of Africa Events Management, Rt. Hon. Prince Kolawole Mathew that led a delegation to the office of the President of the Senate on Wednesday, accompanied by Rotimi Akinloye as the representative of the president of the Nigeria Tennis Federation.
According to the Rt. Hon. Prince Kolawole Mathew, the main objectives of the tournament were to promote Tennis development in Nigeria, provide lifestyle and engage Nigeria youth through competitive sporting championship by using sports as medium of connection.
Moreover, the Championship was being organised in recognition of the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio's effective leadership at the National Assembly.
Kolawole also said, the tournament would hold in Abuja and Uyo in Akwa Ibom State. He also, commend the Senate President receiving them as his guest and welcome the initiative and assured of his support.
Kolawole mentioned that Senate President seized the opportunity to appeal to the Nigerian Private sector to assist in funding sports. The private sector can drive sports in Nigeria. "Let's the sector come in and assist us and this kind of competition is a way of attracting the private sector, encouraging the students to take interest in tennis and in future they will make Nigeria proud" Akpabio said.
